Early Sharp Cider Apple

 

Origin and distribution

 

So far only a single tree, MP2, the middle tree of 3 in a garden at Marlpits House, West Milton .

 

General description

 

A small yellow and red striped apple with a longish stem. Rather cylindrical or

sometimes conical, with a flattened nose and quite angular in section.

 

Season

 

Maturing  September to early October

 

Typical Juice

 

Very sharp, light in colour. SG 1.040

 

Cider

 

Our 2007 sample: A piquant slightly smoky pale straw coloured cider with a marked appley             taste. But mouth-wateringly acidic with some astringency. Suitable for blending.
