An unknown cider apple brought to Powerstock Pressing Day September 2007 by Mr Punnel from Punknowle

 

General description

 

A smallish conical russeted green apple with a touch of orange flush. Eye wide open. Stem quite long and projects distinctly from a narrow deep basin. Core very small and tightly packed with seeds. Chewy cider apple texture.

Sweet with a pleasant hay like aroma

SG 1060, sugar 15.0%, acidity 0.21%, tannin 3.9 g/l

 

Cider

 

No samples made. High sugar content suggests a high potential alcohol! Will make a good cider on its own or blended with a bittersweet.
