Late Mild Bittersweet

 

Origin and distribution

 

An old Devon variety, well known and once widely planted. Still produced as standard trees.

 

General description

 

Flattened conical fruits with a waxy yellow skin, often slightly flushes pink-orange. Distinguished easily by their long thin stems.

Late October – early November

SG 1.052, acidity 0.22%, tannin 0.15 g/l

 

Cider

 

Sweet, sometimes mildly bittersweet an good quality.
